Review # 3 on Bombardier, Inc.

The layout of the pages is very appealing. I enjoyed the simple design and attractive layout. The white buttons not only have a very pure, elegant and professional appearance, they are also very artistic. The text is visually welcoming and the p ictures enhanced the whole feel of the page, rather than distract you from it’s content.

The layout of the site as a whole is also well done. They start out by giving you the option to see the site in English or French. All of the buttons are repeated at the top of each page for simple maneuverability, along with the company logo. So me of the buttons however make little sense. I’m still not sure why they called a button "activities," for example. The help menu also offers a map of the site, which allows someone to easily locate what they are looking for with the touch of a button.

The site doesn’t have much for special or "atomic" tools. There are however some items of interest from a programming point of view. For example, it has a picture with many links on it (setup as a map). I would certainly like to learn how to do that. The main menu also has some organizational structures that I couldn’t understand. I was trying to figure out what types of tools they used and I couldn’t figure it out. They mixed a map with a table to get what they did and I have no cl ue how it works. They also used the command to setup their buttons. When I setup mine, it automatically set them up side by side. Why did they use this command? Also, the site has a meta command that says: "expires" ;, and it has a retroactive date. That made no sense to me. It’s in the "What’s New" menu.

The content is pretty good in most areas of the site. It is current and informative. I enjoyed the history section, which gave key dates and interesting facts. It also had all recent press releases, with a search feature for locating past press releases. On the negative side, the financial information was rather crude. For someone simply curious, it might be enough, but for anyone considering an investment in the company, what they provided was simply useless. I would like to see something th at rivals the information usually relayed in the stockholder’s report.

In conclusion, I enjoyed the site. Simplicity can sometimes be a blessing as was proven here. The site was beautifully crafted and the graphics complimented and directed you to its contents. The important lesson is that a site is ultimately judged by the information it provides. So now it's time they get working on the financial information.
