Explore for a little while, it's not easy at first, but it quickly becomes self explanatory. 

The different levels are explained below.  By clicking on the above link, you will find yourself at level 2, where you can read the different messages posted to the business.alt newsgroup.

There are three hierarchical levels:

1--The Newsgroup level where all newsgroups are posted.  Search for some of interest to you and subscribe to them.

2--The List of Messages level where all messages posted to that newsgroup are posted. 

3--Actual Messages level where you may read and reply to individual messages.

There are two ways to take advantage on newsgroups:

-First, in level one, find all the newsgroups having to do with your products.  Then, write several messages and post them to all the related newsgroups, much like bulk emailing.  This is a good way to get A LOT of exposure, include a link to your URL of course. I would recommend posting one message per day and keep in mind that the most important thing is the title you use, so try out a few different ones.

-The other way to market your site through newsgroups is much less efficient in terms of time, but can be worth your while if you have some free time.  What you do is provide your expertise by helping out people in the newsgroups.  Then include a link to your site and perhaps even go so far as to recommend one of your products, or refer them to an article on your site that deals with the information they are looking for.  Not only will they read it, but others also will and people take personalized answers much more seriously in newsgroups than generic messages posted to many different newsgroups.

I'll warn you that the one big disadvantage of posting to newsgroups is that you can expect a lot of junk email from people who extract email addresses from newsgroups, which by the way is another way for you to send out bulk email: search in the engines for "email extraction software" and you should have a few software options.
